This site is new and while it builds up readership ad space on the right column of the homepage is available free of charge for products, venues, services, etc. that would be of genuine interest to the site's visitors.
Ad Specs & Rules
- Maximum dimensions of ad - no wider than 140 pixels, no higher than 275 pixels.
- Ad images must be black & white - either a grayscale image or a fully de-
saturated one. No sepia or duotones either please.
- Ads should ideally have a “throwback” look and feel similar to The Memling Index
homepage. They don’t have to look straight out of the 19th century but should
have some hint of an earlier era.
If you want to go “all out” and simulate a 18th century broadsheet, an Art Nouveau
block print, an 19th century political cartoon, or a Soviet-era Constructivist poster
ALL THE BETTER!.
- No Flash or other animations unless it’s quite subtle and particularly interesting.
Ad Position in Column
During this initial period, when ad space is free, the position of ads in the column will be a completely subjective matter. Ads for products and venues I feel will be of the most interest to visitors will be placed closer to the top. The quality and vintage-ness of the ads' design will also play into my decision.
What I'm Hoping
I’m hoping that if the ad column is populated with cool, interesting, vintage-like ads of genuine interest to the sites natural audience then vistitors will actually look to the ad column with interest instead of instinctually tuning it out.
