The near-constant state of war that started with the Soviet Invasion more than 25 years ago has had a dramatic effect on the traditional rug designs of Afganistan.   

Instead of trees and birds, some rugs now depict tanks, missiles and fighter jets. These rugs have developed a cult following, in large part due to the toil and passion of New York artist Kevin Sudeith who operates the Web site Warrugs.com.
